33 Photos For The 10 Year Challenge That Show What Is Happening To Our Earth

While millions took to social media to show off how beards and puberty changed their lives, a few were busy sharing comparison photos with a much bigger impact- the environment.

Members of the general public, environmentalists and organizations took to social media to highlight the harsh truth about deforestation and global warming. Mother earth was crying out and these pictures say nothing less. Green peace shared two pictures of the Arctic, showing the staggering difference in the landscape 100 years ago versus a picture taken only recently. The picture showed the huge ice formations melted over the years leaving the mountains in full view.

The year 2018 ended in a rather sad state of affairs as scientists confirm some of our worst fears. First, the year has recorded one of the warmest temperatures on oceans and then the oceans are warming up 40 percent faster than they thought they were.

To add more to the sorry state of affairs, the Antarctic is melting 6 times faster than it did in the 1980s. According to NASA, Antarctica is losing close to roughly 127 gigatonnes of ice mass every year while Greenland loses around 286 gigatonnes.
