Kim Kardashian is no doubt still feeling the heat after she donned Marilyn Monroe’s legendary 1962 Happy Birthday JFK dress to the 2022 Met Gala. Monroe remains one of the most iconic people ever to grace the American entertainment industry. Since wearing her dress, 41-Year-Old Kim has been faced with allegations about whether she did or didn’t damage the iconic dress.
But despite it all, the reality TV star believes she has helped elevate Monroe’s relevance in the 21st century.
Kim has insisted that the short moment helped educate a generation of young people about Ms. Monroe because many people on social media had no clue who the blonde beauty was. “That was the most shocking thing to me and that’s why I was so happy to at least have that opportunity and that Ripley’s gave me the opportunity to share this moment so that it could live on,” the mom of four said in an interview with TODAY.
Monroe was known as an actor, singer, and model. She was also known as one of the biggest and most popular s*x symbols of the 50s and early 60s’.
Kim critics had pointed out she had no right to take out the dress from Ripley’s Believe It or Not Museum. Hitting back, she added: “I respect her and I understand how much this dress means to American history. With the theme being American, I thought what is more American than Marilyn Monroe singing Happy Birthday to the President of the United States. It was such a process. I showed up to the red carpet in a robe and slippers.”
“I put the dress on the bottom of the carpet, went up the stairs, I probably had it on for four minutes and then I changed right at the top of the stairs.”
When asked by hosts Hoda Kotb and Savannah Guthrie if she had damaged the dress. Kardashian said, “NO,” shaking her head. She added: “Ripley’s [and I] worked together so well. There were handlers and gloves that put it on me.” The reality mogul further shared the careful steps she and her team went through so she could wear the glittering gown.
Of losing 16 pounds to fit into the dress, Kim doesn’t consider it as anything negative to be frowned upon.
She said, “I looked at it like a role and wanted to wear this dress. It was really important to me. It actually taught me a lot about my lifestyle and my health. Since then, afterward, I continued to eat really healthy. I’m down 21 pounds now. I’m not trying to lose any more weight but I have more energy than ever,” she continued. “I cut out so much sugar, a lot of junk food I was eating. I just completely changed my lifestyle.”
