Elon Musk has answered a plea from the vice PM of Ukraine who asked the tycoon to help the embattled nation with satellite internet access.
"@elonmusk, while you try to colonize Mars — Russia try to occupy Ukraine! While your rockets successfully land from space — Russian rockets attack Ukrainian civil people! We ask you to provide Ukraine with Starlink stations and address sane Russians to stand," the vice PM Mykhailo Fedorov wrote in a recent tweet.
Prime Minister tweeted to Elon Musk pleading for communication help by providing Starlink connection to Ukrainians.

In less than 12 hours, Elon Musk replied back to the PM, "Starlink service is now active in Ukraine. More terminals en route."
Ukrainian engineer Oleg Kutkov shares a screenshot of the high-speed internet satellite connection Starlink provided and said that the device was "placed just outside my window" and did not need many adjustments.

Providing the devices and satellite availability to Ukraine may not have been a cheap effort from Elon Musk's side, but he wasn't the only billionaire who's made a significant effort to sanction Russia.
Mykhailo shared that in some of the latest updates, DMarket has frozen accounts from the Russian Federation and Belarus to prevent the government from using this money for the war. Mark Zuckerberg, through Meta, has also been blocking Russian propagandists and media outlets. On the other hand, the PM has continued to request for YouTube's corporation to demonetize Russia.
Starlink is an array of satellites that provide internet to particularly rural areas where communication is hardly available.
There are currently almost 2000 satellites from Starlink orbiting the Earth at 340 miles high. Before Ukraine, Elon had sent another satellite for free to Tonga, an area with many rural villages that lost their connection after a natural disaster in the form of a volcanic explosion. It was followed by a tsunami in January.

"In 2022 modern technologies are one of the best response to tanks, rockets and missiles. I've addressed to the biggest tech giants to support the sanctions for Russian Federation. We asked them to help us stop this outrageous aggression on our people!" tweeted the Prime Minister.
