31-year-old Anastasiia Lenna was the Miss Ukraine in 2015, but that doesn't make her any different than other Ukrainian civilians are this point. Kyiv was last seen surrounded by Russian armies, albeit their attempts to invade the capital city had been thwarted for the first time.
But Anastasiia is not alone. Thousands of civilians have decided to take up arms to defend their own country, including a man with a prosthetic leg.
Women have also been seen helping with crafting molotovs to defend against the attacks from Russians. The attack that began on February 24 had taken people by surprise, but since weeks ago, citizens were trained in basic combat including how to handle guns.

Ukrainians have also been reported flying back home to help out and join the "Territorial Defense Units."

Nine civilians, including one child, have lost their lives since the Russians invaded. A curfew has also begun to flush out Russian "saboteurs" since Saturday, and six people have been taken out since there.
Kyiv Mayor Vitaly Klitschko shares the same concerns people have when it comes to arming nervous citizens with guns, shared honestly that they "don't have 100% control." Klitschko added, "We built this territorial defense in a short amount of time - but these are patriotic people."
'Right now, the most important question is to defend our country.'
