Girl Who Suffered From Real-Life Benjamin Button Passed Away At Age 15

Adalia Rose was the girl who went viral when she showed similar traits to Benjamin Button. Although she doesn't age in reverse, the young girl showed signs of aging since her young age after she was diagnosed with Hutchinson-Gilford progeria, a disease that was often dubbed the Benjamin Button disease. Her parents penned a heartbreaking post on their daughter who "left quietly" on January 12, 2022.

Adalia's parents found out she has Hutchinson-Gilford progeria when she was only three months old, a condition that was only found in 500 babies worldwide.

The condition (HGPS) causes her cells to age rapidly abnormally due to a mutation in the gene where the body creates a certain protein that causes them to break down easily.

The life expectancy of children with progeria generally doesn't past 13, but Adalia Rose lived up to 15 years old. It is very rare and can only be found in one out of four million babies worldwide. Children with progeria experiences hair and weight loss, often look thin with wrinkled skin, and can't close their large eyes all the way.

As Adalia Rose grew up, she gained fame with her unique appearance. Her Instagram has over 458k followers and her YouTube channel has close to 3 million subscribers.

In a sad, most recent update, Adalia's parents' announced her passing and that the 15-year-old girl was finally "set free from this world."

"She came into it quietly and left quietly, but her life was far from it. She touched MILLIONS of people and left the biggest imprint in everyone that knew her," the post continued.

"She is no longer in pain and is now dancing away to all the music she loves. I really wish this wasn't our reality, but unfortunately, it is. We want to say thank you to everyone that loved and supported her."

"Thank you to all her doctors and nurses that worked for YEARS to keep her healthy. The family would now like to mourn this huge loss in private."

The family has been receiving condolences and messages from fans who wish to support them during this time through their social media.
