Berfin Özek is finally married, but people could not understand how the 20-year-old Turkish woman could say yes to the man that threw her acid two years ago. Her then ex-boyfriend Casim Ozan Celtik was a man with a temperamental issue who got so possessive over his girlfriend he declared, "If he could not have her, nobody could."
Casim was sentenced to 13 years, but due to law changes and new regulations about the pandemic, he was let out early after only two years of serving in prison.
After the man was reported and arrested, she allegedly received many messages from the man begging for forgiveness and claiming that he loves her.

The court of the district of Iskenderun, Hatay, sentenced the man to 13 years and a half in prison. But the man never served his full sentence.

Lawyer Ramazan Erdogan explained how he could go on parole, "The defendant became a convict with the approval of the verdict.
Considering the period of his imprisonment, he was entitled to go to an open prison after completing the time he had to spend in a closed prison. However, due to the pandemic, convicts are considered on leave from open prisons until 31st May 2022."
He insisted, "The defendant's release has nothing to do with his marriage to Berfin. The decision is final. If it were not for the pandemic, he would have continued to serve his sentence in an open prison."
The general consensus believes the man shouldn't be allowed out despite the victim's forgiveness.
