Recently, a tale emerged on the Subreddit, r/pettyrevenge, and it’s hinged on having a Gold-digger as a significant other. To be precise, the story follows a guy (let’s name him Dave) who had planned to marry a lady, who is respectively also named Karen. 

But it turned out Karen is complicated about Dave’s decision. Reddit user u/rosexknight explained that her cousin, Dave, had been in a four-year relationship with Karen, detailing what kind of person she was. Based on tradition, she demanded to be given a diamond ring as a sign of marriage but instead, it hinted at how much a gold-digger she was.

Dave (34M) isn’t that rich and offered an alternative: a white sapphire ring resembling a diamond one. At this point, Dave wasn’t considering revenge, but of course, many people felt his sapphire scheme was a form of petty revenge from the toxic relationship. In truth, Dave only wanted to save money for important stuff than a ring, according to the words of the Reddit User. 

“With COVID-19, he was afraid he would get laid off and didn’t want to spend his savings on a ring if he was going to be without a job. But he also didn’t want Karen to think he didn’t care about her. Dave told me later down the line for their anniversary he was planning on getting her a proper diamond ring. The revenge was accidental and Karen’s fault when she went to pawn the ring.”

Eventually, Dave proposed, and the diamond ring demand resulted in Karen being unsatisfied with how the pandemic turned out to be why not many of the 300 planned guests would want to attend the wedding. Karen had managed to invite many people on her side of the family, excluding a lot of people on Dave’s side, leaving the groom to call off the wedding. Despite things fall out, Karen kept the ring and even attempted to sell it out.

This was when she discovered that it’s not a diamond but a sapphire. The situation worsened: Karen flooded Dave with calls and texts demanding he reimburse her the total price of the ring; she even went far as to threaten him. “He and I had a good laugh listening to her tantrum.” The post concluded.

In an interview with BoredPanda, Reddit User Rose revealed Dave has since moved to another state for his job. At the same time, nothing is presently known of Karen following her playing of the victim on Facebook for a while.
