Breaks-ins happen all the time! If invaders want to break into your home, they will find a way to make it happen. However, prevention is better than dealing with the aftermath of a home break-in, so without further ado, let’s dive into the tale of Josie Bowers. The latter described an invasion into her hotel room when she was a teenager. Josie, then 15, was on holiday with her family in Ocean City, Maryland, USA, when a man used a contraption to open her hotel door room from the outside. Recalling the incident on TikTok, Josie revealed a tip from her police officer stepdad potentially saved her life. Watched over 10million times, the clip is dubbed the “scariest experience.”
Josie, then 15, was all alone in the room when an intruder slipped a contraption under the bottom of the door for an open.
“I was staying in Ocean City at the Hilton, right there on the waterfront, and I went to go shower as the rest of my family was down at the beach. I was by myself. My main thought was holy s***. I’m in a towel right now, and someone is about to break in and get me. So the door opens a crack, and I just slammed it back shut and put the deadbolt on.” Josie, now 19-Year-Old, said.

The invader, according to Josie, had insisted he was there to fix the door, but then her suspicions were a hit. She continued: “So they tell me your keycard is broken, and we need to get into the room and fix your keypad for you. And so I open the door a tad bit to see if it was a worker. It wasn’t; they were in jeans and a T-shirt; Hilton keeps it pretty classy, not the attire.” In the heat of the incident, Josie remembered a tip from her dad. He had taught her never to let people know you’re alone. The invader informed her he was there to fix the door, but Josie had her suspicions.

One smart tip to know: NEVER ALLOW AN INVADER KNOW YOU ARE ALL ALONE.

She further stated: “I yelled, hey dad, there’s someone here to fix the door. As soon as they thought that I wasn’t alone and potentially my dad was there, they ran; they were gone.” Josie’s story aims at alerting as many as possible to the danger while encouraging them to stay safe. While she’s glad of being safe, Josie attested it could have ended up a lot worse.![]()
