41-Year-Old Law Graduate Sends Powerful Message To Celebrate Every Woman

"Sorry, not sorry," Amber Goodwin tweeted as she posted with proud a picture of her in her graduation robe. She is graduating from law school at the age of 41, a dream she's had for the past decade or so.

Goodwin, who's had a career in Capitol Hill, was rejected by multiple law schools after college and decided to enter the working industry. It wasn't a loss at all - Goodwin would become the founder of the Community Justice Action Fund (CJAF).

Goodwin, 41, is the founder of a community that focuses on gun violence prevention against communities of color.

The Texan woman is graduating from Mitchell Hamline School of Law in St. Paul, Minn., on June 6. Almost 20 years ago, she had to deal with rejections from so many schools. In her viral tweet, Goodwin laid bare all the facts about the personal life that "society refuses to celebrate," such as being over 40, having no kids, and never been married.

Her viral tweet prompted her to be interviewed by Good Morning America.

Speaking to GMA, Goodwin recalls her late 30s when she started school hunting, "My mentality was: I'm going to keep applying places, and they have to tell me no. I'm not going to call the question on myself. If people tell me no, then that's on them, and I'll just keep trying."

The 41-year-old message had resonated with other women. Many shared their own stories of graduating much later in life and how they were thankful for her message.

She admitted that she felt overwhelmed with the positive responses, saying, "I didn't expect that anyone outside of my family and friends would actually like it or tweet it."

People just had to share in the celebration: this man agreed with her words.

"A lot of times, people, especially women and Black women, are not celebrated while we're doing things," Goodwin continued. "We're celebrated maybe when we've made it and are winning big cases as an attorney or doing other things like getting married or having kids."

"And a lot of times things like [graduating law school] aren't just seen as a win for someone who is 41 years old.'"

The takeaway from her celebration: "life should be lived and celebrated literally every single day."

Aren't we just looking forward to what she's going to achieve even more in the future?
