A clip of a pole dancer has gone viral in China. The reason being that the performance unfolded in a wedding reception, with the performer spinning in confidence surrounded by shocked guests. The guests were distracted from their meals as they watched the woman with shoulder-length hair danced around the pole in a revealing, short maroon suit.

The clip has gone viral on Douyin, an app that many referred to as the TikTok of China.

As it went viral, many negatively commented that the newlyweds did not take consider their guests properly. One wrote, "What would the elderly think when they saw this at their grandchildren's wedding?"

Another wrote, "This is embarrassing, so many of them tried to hide their expressions while watching the performance."

It was identified that this clip was from a wedding reception held in Zhangjiakou, Heibei province in China.

"There are kids in these events; isn't this a little too much?"

Hiring many performers during one's wedding reception is very common in China. The trend lately had been hiring unique performers, but pole dancers aren't one of them.

A wedding planner spoke to SCMP, "Some rural areas do show similar racy and hot performances at weddings or even funerals to increase attendance, but not in urban areas."

"Personally, I find this vulgar and would never plan a wedding with such a performance. That wedding does not necessarily represent the latest wedding trends, or at least, not in Zhangjiakou."
