Ayanna Williams of Houston has since 2017 held the title for World’s longest fingernails. The Guinness World Record gave her, and they recently measured nearly 24 feet long. Typically, it takes over bottles of nail polish and about 20 hours to do her manicure. It turned out the record holder has officially cut her nails, and it’s quite an emotional, bittersweet goodbye.

With the help of a professional and an electronic rotary cutter due to the scale and thickness, Ayanna claims it was a relief to have the nails gone. Chopping off the nails equally means she will now be able to do daily tasks, including washing the dishes and changing the bed for the first time in several years.Surprisingly, the record holder has officially cut her nails, and it’s quite an emotional, bittersweet goodbye.

“The last time I measured my nails, the longest one was 38inches. I get so many different kinds of reactions from growing my nails; it’s unbelievable. The majority are good, people are excited, and they don’t know what to think or say actually because it’s something you don’t see on the norm. I’m going to always be the queen with or without my nails because my nails don’t make me; I make my nails.” Ayanna told Guinness World Records.

Ayanna joked that her mom had thought her nails were long at just 2in, the beginning of her attempt to grow them. Besides, she also admitted being worried about breaking a nail before having them cut off. She certainly will miss having them! She continued: “If you want to grow nails long, do it. Why not? It’s your life; do it. I’ll encourage you; hit me up.
