Woman Adopts A Cat No One Wanted At Shelter Because Of Her ‘Grumpy’ & 'Ugly' Looks

Shelters and rescues worldwide are filled with abandoned animals who desperately need a loving forever home. It is saddening that not all of these animals get happy endings as potential adopters overlook many due to their appearance, age, or perhaps an illness. Out of the numerous vulnerable, Francisca Franken has helped an unusual cat named Bean. Franken browsed through a local animal shelter's website when she stumbled upon Bean, who had a flat face, tough attitude, and sad eyes. She instantly wrote to the shelter to check if the cat was still available and even got anxious amid waiting for a response. When the shelter eventually called her back, Francisca claims they couldn’t believe she wanted the rare cat.

Before living in the shelter, Bean had lived as a stray cat in a trailer park. She has an eye infection, struvite stones, a beginning blockage, and had never known the love of home amid suffering other ailments.

Franken browsed through a local animal shelter's website when she stumbled upon Bean and instantly wrote to the shelter to check if it was still available.

But Franken has officially filled the vacuum. “I moved into a bigger flat so that I could have a cat again. When I lived with my parents, we had one. His name is Joker, and I love him to death. So naturally, when I moved out, something was missing.” Franken told Bored Panda.

When the shelter eventually called her back, Francisca claims they couldn’t believe she wanted the rare cat.

She added: “But joker is an outdoor cat in a rural area, and my flat was quite small, so it just felt unfair to take him just so I feel better. He wouldn’t have been happy. I lived one year without a cat and then moved to a bigger flat with a balcony so I could adopt a cat. I wasn’t planning on getting one right away because it’s always a commitment. Well, that was until I saw Bean’s picture while browsing my local shelter’s website at night.”

Franken shared that it was Bean’s unique appearance that made her fall in love with her. She claims the cat appeared tough, almost like a rough gangster, and had never received any medical attention. Bean wasn’t even microchipped nor sprayed when she was found. For the big day (adoption), Franken reportedly got dressed up in a nice pair of pants and a blouse and met with Bean.

Franken was overtaken by emotion despite having a short tail and short legs. Bean was the cutest cat she’d ever seen.

When she got shown into the room where Bean was, Franken explained she was overtaken by emotion despite having a short tail and short legs. To Franken, Bean was the cutest cat she’d ever seen. Franken further explained that she stayed with Bean for several hours, during when she texted a friend, doubting if the shelter would allow her to take the cat home on the first meeting.

But after asking, the shelter agreed, given how much she already loved the cat. Franken was equally provided with essentials, including toys, a carrier, and a litter box.
