Illustrator Jamina Bone went through a great ordeal after the birth of her second child. Diagnosed with postpartum depression, the usually optimistic mom quickly spiraled from being an educator looking up the 'best' way to handle every aspect of being unable to move."

The constant feeling of being broken, unworthy of being a mom for her little angels, and selfish for wanting to get away gnawed at her so much they fuelled some very negative thoughts. The mother of two equated her experience to "wading through mud or even quicksand and still being expected to do all the things."

At some point, things got so bad that she contemplated hurting herself and the baby just to end it all. All this time, she didn't realize she was depressed. She just thought she was failing at her greatest job - being a mom.

Over time, Bone has managed to get out of the mental rut. Now, the mom-of-two is creating illustrations to encourage other "imPERFECT moms" to ditch social norms and embrace their true self.

Through her comics, Bone reminds people that a woman can have doubts, be angry at herself and still be a good mom. But Most importantly she can be herself, forget the pseudoperfect happy-go-lucky mentality and still be a good mom to her kid(s)
