There is a hoard of issues bugging modern society. Addiction to social media, devaluation of workers, unhealthy lifestyles just to name a few. For some people, these problems might not affect their lives directly, and therefore tend to ignore them. However, artist John Holcroft dislikes social injustice so much and has made a career tackling head-on the serious issues in today's world.
His brutally honest artworks illustrate concepts spanning around topics that most people care about, such as corporate greed, climate change, and politics.
John works and lives in the UK where he has been Illustrating since 1996. He draws his inspiration from observing life in general. The artist considers himself an oddball and this reflects even in his art.
His illustrations are simple to look but often hide a deep and complicated meaning and It's pretty amazing how he can portray such serious topics with just a simple illustration.
The artist describes his style as conceptual and can sometimes weigh towards satirical, but being a freelance artist he might also veer off the normal and adapt to the brief he works on.
Check out some of his inspiring pieces below.
