Earlier this year, the world lost several of its beloved figures to suicide. Avicii, Kate Spade, Anthony Bourdain just to name a few have long been battling with mental illness despite their sterling performance on stage. This reopened a worldwide dialogue on depression. However, despite the open conversation about this mental illness, some people still seem to be acutely ill-informed on how it comes about and its treatment modalities.
One of the commonest myths about depression is that it's self-imposed and therefore treatable if one just wills it away if you just try hard enough. Well, thanks to the internet, people who have long time been struggling with the disease can dispel the myths and set the record straight.
