Japanese Brides Are Turning Their Traditional Kimonos Into Amazing Wedding Dresses

s the cultures and wedding ceremony traditions differ from country to country, so does the unique dresses of the bride. Some brides paint their hands and face by local customs; others adorn themselves in colorful wedding dresses while some hide their faces completely behind veils and layers of jewelry. But not every bride upholds these wedding traditions and chooses the classical wedding dress for their Big Day.

According to the Japanese tradition, a Japanese bride would wear a furisode long-sleeve Kimono.  But these Japanese brides are giving their traditional weddings dress a modern twist. The brides are re-styling their traditional kimonos into strapless wedding gowns and are tying the traditional long sleeves up in a large decorative bow at the back. The alterations done to the Kimono are easily reversible. The altered kimonos are a combination of traditions, with the colorful print of a Japanese kimono combined with the classic cut of a western gown. So why not wear something different instead of wearing the same traditional dress and then leaving it in the closet forever.
