19 Behind-The-Scenes Pics Show What CGI Effects Do To These Movies

Imagine having to use a whole jungle to film that scene in 'Avengers: Endgame.' Or imagine any movie that is sci-fi or fantasy-based and having to recreate all those things without the help of CGI effects. it's amazing what technology has managed to achieve today

They have made it possible to turn back time for some actors or travel into the future to show an older Chris Evans. Technology made it possible to recreate humans and realize the mad titan, Thanos, using Josh Brolin's voice, expressions, and movements.

We are showing you 19 breathtaking moments from behind the scenes of popular movies.

Thanos, the fearsome villain was portrayed with a cardboard box and a man in tight gray suit.

Not a single villain in 'Avengers' could top Thanos' cruelty and power. His obsession over balance, however, was offset by the fact that he was just a cardboard put up above the head of the actor because he's in reality taller than most. This helps actors look at him in the eye... but it's honestly amazing to see how these actors managed to act out despite the hilarious fact they're staring at a cardboard.

And Rocket was not a rabbit. He was a raccoon... doll.

This doll is used sometimes to show where actors should look at.

Mark Ruffalo was also in that same grey pants suit all this time.

And he never did have to sit for hours to do his makeup. He was never green because it was the CGI's job.

People relied on CGI effects to the point that they used it to CGI suits and uniforms.

The suit that actors and actresses wore during 'Avengers: Endgame' when they were about to embark on a time travel was edited. That is why some of us may have seen another behind-the-scene picture of the whole team walking in tight grey pants suit. That dramatic scene was filled with men and women in tight gray pants suit.

How does one stick humans to vertical surfaces? (How does one become Spider-Man?)

They could have CGI'ed things, but movie crews still prefer using cables with visual effects and a little bit of perspective play. That's exactly what they did with Tobey Maguire's movies and Tom Holland's as well.

Nobody is yeet out of a building.

That's because it's easier to use ropes and with enough training, it'll be much more cost-saving than using CGI.

Need to time-skip? No problem, CGI got your back, too!

Makeup alone is often not enough to make someone look older, so a little bit of CGI can make them much more believable.

They also did it to Kurt Russel to recreate a younger, much more handsome version of him during 'Guardians of the Galaxy'. They also did the same albeit much more extreme with Tony Stark's face (which definitely made a few people uncomfortable) to show the man when he was 19.

But CGI effects aren't cheap and directors often opt for a cheaper option if it's available rather than trying to edit everything out. There is also the time limit which will mean the edits will come out horrendous if not done properly.

Think 'Cats' and superman's mustache.

And this one is how they edited Nicholas Cage as the Ghost Rider (that scene where the boy asked how he does his 'business'.)

Here's another one on 'The Rookies' when flowers grow on these people's face.

They had someone else to work on Chris Evans scene when he was tinier.

Slim Deeny was in charge of Steve Rogers' less bulkier body. But not even his body was short enough for the role, so they also CGI'd that. It's why some scenes had awkward space above Rogers' head.

They had Chris Evans' face and expression, slim Deeny's body and movement, two of which were merged into one.

Angelina Jolie sit for hours to get her makeup done.

As Maleficent, Angelina Jolie had that evil look for the most part of her movie and she wore her costumes as well. Because of that, she scared a lot of the children at the movie set.

Alicia Vikander did workout and put on some weight for her role in 'Tomb Raider'. She gained some muscle mass, but she also relied on ropes for some of the jumps to achieve a better result and of course, the safety.

Obviously, they did not destroy a whole land for this. It was crowded, however.

They relied on CGI for the background and Spidey's suit.

But checkout how much of it was real and how much was gone in the real movie.

Here, ladies and gentlemen, are why treadmills were invented.

No, we're joking. But during the scene where everyone was running, they had treadmills and the rest were CGI. Not a single leaf was real in this scene.

In total, 'Avengers: Endgame' spent $356 million.

‘Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets’ cost $197 million and a majority of that goes to CGI effects.

This was also Luc Besson's most expensive European movie.

This is where 'Aquaman' was filmed.

The whole underwater scene was never done in the water, except for some of the swimming parts. They were suspended midair with cables and the hair was edited out.

They also made us of shooting in the nature for the underwater view.

And car commercials? They have one they call the 'blackbird' that is CGI'd as the car model they are promoting.
