The Australian Bushfires are all over the place. The media, the social media, the news, has it all covered. These flames have been consuming Australia for months and have created a severe loss for Australia and for the entire Earth as well. The fires have razed many homes and wiped out some towns entirely, and have taken homes from many animals that lived in those forests and bushes of Australia. Since the fires have begun, a whopping 10 million hectares have been burned completely, across the country. For the sake of comparison, the recent forest fires in California in 2018 had swept over 800,000 hectares of forests.
The numbers say that around half a billion animals suffered because of the blazing flames in the New South Wales state itself and millions of animals are potentially dead already, as said by the ecologists at The University of Sydney. The numbers that they talk about is including birds, reptiles, and mammals except for bats. The numbers will be much higher if we also started to include frogs and insects, whose numbers have not been taken into consideration for now.
Josef Stalin once said "The death of one ... is a
tragedy. The death of millions is a statistic."Just so you understand the
huge damage created, here are a few before and after photos of the areas
affected by the fires.
