The zoo is a great place to both rehabilitate animals or care for the ones with little chances of surviving in the wild while educating the masses about them. Nothing educates better than seeing the real thing beside YouTube videos and textbooks. But since these are not their real habitats, these animals are often interacting with the consciousness of humans around them.
