Bee species are listed among the animal species going extinct due to human activity. In the USA alone an estimated 44% of colonies were lost in the year 2016. The ever-expanding human population, as well as intensive farming
practices have resulted in bee genocide worldwide and if things don’t improve soon, we could face a huge collapse in our food supply.

While others cut on their plastic use and clean the environment, some MacDonalds in Sweeden are doing their bit by helping out our virtual friends. They host beehives on the roofs of their restaurants and others go a length further to plant flowers outside too. We both know bee’s insatiable quench for nectar.
This bee-friendly environment has really worked well to boost their population in the nation.
To commemorate these efforts, Mcdonald’s commission a professional carpenter commissioned to make the smallest ever Mcdonald’s which is in fact a fully functional bee colony complete with a sign and an outside eating area. Impressive right?
The level of detail is so impressive that many customers do not leave the diners without throwing in a nice comment.
“We have a lot of really devoted franchisees who contribute to our sustainability work, and it feels good that we can use our size to amplify such a great idea as beehives on the rooftops,” said Christoffer Rönnblad, marketing director of McDonald’s Sweden, said in an interview.
