A visibly delighted Prince Harry couldn’t help cracking out ‘dad’
jokes alongside his wife Meghan as they revealed their newborn son Archie
Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor.
The delighted couple spoke at a photocall ahead of their meeting with the Queen at the Windsor Castle. The newborn’s grandmother was the first member of the royal family to see the child since his birth on Monday.
The Duchess laughed off an anonymous request to hold their baby’s face to the cameras as Harry joked: ‘He’s already got a little bit of facial hair as well, wonderful.’
The excited new- parents had a little chat Meghan remarked ’He has the sweetest temperament, he’s really calm.’ To which Harry goofily replied: ‘I don’t know who he gets that from,’ before the couple shared a knowing smirk.
4 Hours later, the couple revealed the baby’s name on their Instagram account.
In an image posted yesterday, the queen was seen happily smiling at the newborn alongside her husband Prince Philip.
Baby Archie was born at 5:26 am on Monday with 3.6 kgs and is the youngest addition to the growing royal family.
The Queen and The Duke of Edinburg met their eighth great-grandchild for the first time since aby Archie was born, at the Windsor castle. Also present were the baby’s parents and maternal grandmother Doria Ragland.
Archie is the short form for Archibald, a name meaning ‘bold’ or ‘brave’. Harrison, on the other hand, is a fitting tribute to the baby’s father meaning ‘son of Henry’ or ‘son of Harry’
Most bookmakers have been dramatically upset as they had pitched for the name “Alexander”. Archie was 100/1 and Harrison didn’t even make an appearance on the lists.
The couple did not disclose why they settled on the names but Archie has been gaining quite a popularity. In 2017, it was among the 20 top most common boy’s names.
Minutes after the baby’s name was disclosed to the world; royal fans took to social media to share their thoughts.
While many were complimentary, some were a bit skeptical. One said ”I’m sorry, Archie Harrison? That doesn’t sound very royal or British to me.”
Another wrote: ‘I was hoping for Spender. Spencer Hamilton sounds royal. But you know… Archie it is!’
Others were more complimentary as they shared their excitement over the name choice: ‘So sweet! I love his name –Archie- he sounds positively adorable!’
Another wrote; ‘Archie is a wonderful name! Also a pleasant surprise.
The couple appeared joyful as they giggled and looked into each other’s eyes. As Harry peeked down at his son, a radiant Meghan declared: ‘it’s magic, it's pretty amazing. He’s just been the dream so it has been a special couple of days.
Asked who the baby takes after, Meghan added: ‘We’re still trying to figure that out”
Harry said 'Everyone says that babies change so much over two weeks we're basically monitoring how the changing process happens over this next month really. But his looks are changing every single day, so who knows.'
Asked how he found parenting, Harry added: 'It's great. Parenting is amazing.
'It's only been two and a half days, three days, but we're just so thrilled to have our own little bundle of joy.'
