Game Of Thrones Director Explains Why Jon Didn't Pet Ghost Goodbye

Please note for SPOILER AHEAD. You have been warned. (sentence bolded)

And so, if you have watched the latest episode, you all know that Season 8 has been especially eventful. From Starbucks mishap to Jon dating his aunt, we thought things couldn't be worse. We know that it's the last season and the director is eager to set this as the most unforgettable of all.

That also means a lot of characters need closure and the recent episode is filled with a lot of goodbyes. That said, Ghost, the Very Good Boy™, did not get a single pet on the head as Jon simply walked away from him. That was NOT the kind of goodbye the viewers expected and definitely not what he deserves!

Yes, this very good boy, Ghost, who has done a lot. Despite being the result of CGI

HBO

We all stand for human's best friend, Ghost the direwolf. And all we have been waiting to see is for Jon to show affection to the lovely boy. Understandably, we cannot have too many of them since it's not without burning through the budget.

BUT THIS CANNOT BE JUSTIFIED WITH ANY REASON. Ghost deserves not just a pet, He deserves 427 hugs and all the food and treats he wants.

HBO

Jon Snow told them to take Ghost with them and walked away. Yeah, and that's the closure to our Very Good Boy™.

And the rage ensues because nobody can ever accept such cold treatment towards Ghost. Not even from Jon and not especially from Jon, you ungrateful aunt-sleeper dude.

As such, David Nutter explains why:

"Since the direwolves are kind of CG creations, we felt it best to keep it as simple as possible,” Nutter told Huffington Post. “Keeping Ghost off to the side, I thought that played out better ... Then [Jon] just walks off by himself, he turns to Ghost and has this moment with Ghost that I thought was very, very powerful."
Basically, they are saying they ran out of budget to even give a single f- I mean pet for Ghost. That turn was powerful, sure, that direwolf must have felt a strong gust of feelings flooding his heart: sadness. GIVE THAT BOY A DAMN HUG NOW

Reminding you that it is also the same director for this show which employed actors to ride on metals to create a realistic dragon-riding scene
