Pensioner Uses Trail Camera To Catch A Mouse That Has Kept Cleaning His Shed For Over A Month

72-year-old British man Stephen Mckears has certainly seen a lot in life, but none of that would prepare him for the strange things that happened in his shed while he was not around. Like any normal human, he questioned his sanity multiple times when he found objects randomly being moved in his shed overnight.

It wasn’t just random sorting of things, somehow small items like clips and screws found themselves neatly packed back into a tub. The secret phantom couldn’t put up with Mr. Mckears untidiness and instead of chastising him, opted to organize things in the dead of the night.

Determined to solve this baffling mystery, Mr. Mckears decided to play a little game. He emptied out the tub, scattering its contents around. Sure enough, he was astonished to find everything back in its place and the secret helper didn’t even ask for a dime. This convinced Mr. Mckears that something intriguing was definitely going on.

He enlisted the help of a friend and neighbor Rodney Holbrook. The pair decided to set up a trail camera to catch the ghost in the act. Mr. Holbrook utilized his skills as a wildlife photographer to track down the mysterious visitor.

The next morning, their little project found something that was both adorable and unexpected. A cute and determined mouse was lifting objects twice its size in an effort to keep its home clean.

“I’ve been calling him Brexit Mouse because he’s been stockpiling for Brexit,” Mr. Mckears said.“

The heaviest thing was the plastic attachment at the end of a hosepipe – and the chain of an electric drill. I didn’t know what it was at first. The kids were saying it was a ghost.”

“One day I emptied the tub out and spread the contents on the side – and the next day they were all back in again. I thought I was going mad.”

The mouse’s diligent behavior took Mr. Holbrook by surprise.

“I’ve been calling him Metal Mickey but some people have been saying he’s just mouse proud,” he joked.

“I was quite amazed to see it – it is an amazing mouse.”

“Steve asked if he could use my trail camera to film whatever it was that was moving the objects in his shed.”

“The mouse was chucking things into the box – we thought it was a ghost or something at first. I thought I have to see this for myself.”

The small visitor has been doing its shift from around midnight to 2:30 am daily for a month now keeping it's 'home’ clean.

“It was doing it for about two hours that night – he must have had to go for a night of sleep after it,” Mr. Mckears said.
