Teen Gets Rejected Before Homecoming And Laughed At, Then Sees 13 Girls Standing In Front Of Him

There are countless videos on the internet about perfect ‘prom proposals’, the not so perfect ones also end up going viral building onto the shame of an often ridiculed kid. However, with the handful of prom rejection moments are also acts of kindness from good-hearted fellas.

It takes a but-load of guts to ask someone out on a date, especially if you are a typical shy, not-so-popular guy in school who’s never been in a relationship before. Dakota Nelson, a sophomore from Gray, Louisiana knows this better. He had mustered up the courage to ask his friend to the homecoming dance.

He had never asked a girl out before, so he took weeks of preparing to make the big moment perfect but she said No.

“It was actually a pretty tough moment standing in a small circle with that one shake of the head, and you just got to find your way out of that circle. It's hesitating.”

The rejection was made unbearable by the classmates who laughed and mocked Dakota. They even stepped on the handmade poster he used to pop the question.

“That what made me walk away. I didn’t want to be a part of it.”

As if that was not humiliation enough, the prom rejection was caught on camera and it wasn’t long before it went viral on Facebook with thousands of views.

A few days later, Dakota summoned the courage to go back to school, not knowing that a few good souls had planned a surprise for him.

Some girls had seen the video and felt sorry for his prom rejection. They wanted him to have his homecoming dance and still enjoy it.

While he walked through the hallways, he was stopped by a group of 13 girls each holding a sig, asking Dakota to the homecoming.

Alyssa Buckley led a group of cheerleaders to do something good with their popular status.
She said: “We’re going to make sure he dances like we’re going to make sure he is on the dance floor dancing.”

“Let’s get a group of girls together and ask him to show him that he’s loved and worthy and deserves to be going to homecoming with somebody.”

Speaking about the thrilling moment, Dakota said: “I felt like one of the popular kids in school which I’m really not.”

The cheerleader’s response to Dakota’s prom rejection came at a perfect moment because October is the National Bullying Prevention Month. The dance is happening this week and hopefully, Dakota will have some great moments to share.
